NOVEMBER 2013 - THE FRIDAY PROJECT

The Friday Project is an intergenerational project, it is run on a weekly basis on the local nature reserve Parc-Nant-Y-Waun.
Volunteers from the community along with Communities First and Blaenau Gwent Education Proteus project come together to undertake a work programme to help with the maintenance of the parc. This includes activities such as Litter picking, pond weeding, planting and feeding trees, etc.
The young people and volunteers also work towards accreditation for the work they undertook on the Parc. - Photographs below were taken at the event.

OCTOBER - PARC NANT-Y-WAUN WINS AT BLAENAU GWENT ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS 2013
The Parc won a wood sculpture and a certificate of achievement at this years awards ceremony, for achieving 'Green Flag Status' earlier in July.

John Hill - Parc Director, also received an award for Environmental Champion – Lifetime Achievement.

JULY 2013 - PARC NANT-Y-WAUN WINS PRESTIGIOUS GREEN FLAG AWARD FROM KEEP WALES TIDY

60 parks and 56 community-managed green spaces in Wales have all been awarded Green Flags for 2013-14.
The awards are given out by environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy, and recognise and reward the best parks and green spaces in the country as well as driving up the quality of green space. Emphasis is also placed on local community involvement in the ongoing and long-term care of the area.

JULY 2014 - PARC NANT-Y-WAUN WINS A SECOND PRESTIGIOUS GREEN FLAG AWARD FROM KEEP WALES TIDY

This year, 65 parks and 37 community managed green spaces have been awarded recognition for their excellent facilities as well as their commitment to delivering great quality green space for communities in Wales.

Please Note :- Our near neighbours and fellow Ebbw Fach Trail Green Spaces at Beaufort Hill Ponds & Woodlands and Trevor Rowson Park, also won a second award.
