Earthly Encounters at Parc Nant-y-Waun July 8th 2009
On Tuesday 7th The Friends of Parc Nant-y-Waun and Community First workers got together with a strong team from the Probation Service to put up Marquees and prepare the site for our Earthly Encounters event.

We were lucky with the weather, although the gusty wind did its best to lift the tents off the ground, and in a couple of cases - succeeded (Photo 1) Around 800 schoolchildren visited together with their teachers.
After a morning pond dipping, going on historical walks and visiting all the displays, it was time to sit down for a well earned lunch break. (Photo 2) The owls and hawks were very popular, unfortunately though, because of the wind, they were unable to fly (Photo 3)

The otters caused quite a stir, spending most of the time getting up to mischief. (Photo 4)
It had been a long and tiring cople of days for the volunteers, but before going home, everything had to be taken down and cleared from the Parc.

It had all been worthwhile though, and we'll soon be thinking about our next event.

Earthly Encounters Event held on Wednesday 15th September 2010
During the event, two totem poles were created by a Chainsaw Artist and have been erected at the entrance to the Open Air Classroom - see photos below.
